Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen announced his retirement from MMA at Bellator 222.
In the co-main event, Sonnen suffered a loss to Lyoto Machida, prompting him to make the decision shortly after.
The card featured Rory MacDonald defending his welterweight title and advancing to the finals of the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix with a decision over Neiman Gracie.
Also, Kyoji Horiguchi became the Bellator bantamweight champion with a decision win vs. Darrion Caldwell.
