By the time Sunday morning rolls around, we will know who is in the finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix.
Excited?
Honestly, for as weird and drawn out as the GP has been, it is kind of exciting to think about the semifinal matches that will air live on Paramount Network Friday and Saturday night.
First up will be Ryan Bader and Matt Mitrione at Bellator 207. Both are former contestants on The Ultimate Fighter and ex-UFC fighters, with Bader currently holding the light heavyweight title.
Mitrione, though, has been on fire since coming over to Bellator, including a finish vs. Fedor Emelinaneko.
Which leads us into Saturday’s main event at Bellator 208 as Fedor battles the long-winded Chael Sonnen. It’s been an impressive career for Sonnen, who has fought for UFC gold at both middleweight and light heavyweight.
Like Fedor, though, he’s yet to win gold in a major promotion in the U.S., something that could change for the winner.
There are plenty of good matches to balance out both cards including “Baby Slice” Kevin Ferguson Jr. in action, Roy Nelson vs. Sergei Kharitonov and Benson Henderson vs. Saad Awad.
So, will you tune in and check out the GP semis along with the other action? If so, who do you feel will prevail and fight for the title in 2019? Let us know in the comments section!
