Grant Dawson listened and delivered at UFC Vegas 22 this past weekend.
Dawson, who grew up in Stromsburg, Nebraska, scored a knockout victory over Leonardo Santos with a single second left in the third and final round. The finish earned him a “Performance of the Night” bonus.
Between rounds, Dawson’s head coach, James Krause, laid it out.
“We need a finish,” Krause was heard saying. “Don’t leave this to the judges.”
That is exactly what Dawson did for his Glory MMA head coach and fellow UFC fighter.
For Dawson, it also marked his eighth consecutive win – with the last six coming under the UFC banner including one on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Overall, Dawson is now 17-1 with 11 wins by submission and four by knockout. He is targeting a possible fight later this year with UFC veteran Clay Guida.
