Cody “Locked & Loaded” Land, born (August 23rd, 1990) and raised in Brady, Nebraska, a small town 250 miles west of Omaha.

Cody Land began training in MMA after becoming a 3-time state champion power lifter and playing football in high school. Cody says, “I remember the first time I watched MMA, I was watching that Spencer Fisher fight, the one with the flying knee knock out, that’s what got me hooked on the sport.” Cody trains six days a week in Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling. Cody considers UFC veterans, Ryan Roberts, and Ryan Jensen to be his mentors at this point in his career and he trains with them at Premier Combat Center in Omaha, NE. Cody, as an amateur has held, three titles at 135, the NCF, DC and TSCF champion belts. Cody currently holds the MCF Bantam weight title as a professional.

Cody considers his fight against James Harrington to be his most impressive highlight reel fight but admits that the fight against Anthony Sessions was his toughest. Cody ranks himself in the middle of the 125 lb class since his move. “I am still trying to find my groove at this weight but I think I can hang with most of the guys regionally. I feel like I have a few fights to win before I feel confident that I will get the call from the UFC.” Land admits. Cody was an alternate for the UFC’s ultimate fighter. “I think now that I am in a gym with world class coaches and talent, the next step is within reach. I think if I can rattle off 3 or 4 quality wins, I don’t think they can tell me no,” says Land.

“I don’t have any hobbies, just MMA,” says Land. When asked about being part of the MMA Futures Grey Hat program Land says, “I just wish you guys were around when I was starting out as an amateur. You guys are getting my name out there and I appreciate that. I think it is great what you are doing for the younger guys.” Cody works closely with the MMA Futures anti-bulling campaign and Dude Be Nice. One thing that most people don’t know about Cody Land is that he is a published poet. His poetry has been in several publications over the years since high school.

Cody’s family was a little apprehensive about him pursuing a career as a fighter but after he put together several wins and held a title belt they came around. “My family and girlfriend, Prissylla Penaherrara supports me in every way now, it is great to have their encouragement,” says Land. When asked to describe his life right now, in one word Cody Land says, “Grinding.” And he is living it. He is grinding it out with training and work every day. We are proud to have Cody Land represent the MMA Futures Brand and we are looking forward to see what happens next in this young professional fighter’s career.
