Over the weekend, fight fans around the midwest convened in Independence, Missouri for MMA Futures presents Kansas City Fighting Alliance: KCFA 28.
The event featured both amateur and pro bouts, including a main event victory by former UFC and Ultimate Fighter competitor Anthony Gutierrez over Jose Martinez.
Gutierrez improved to 10-3 with a decision victory over Martinez, who fell to 9-4 overall in his career. The win was the third in a row for the Glory MMA and Fitness fighter.
“Last night I picked up my 10th professional victory in a tough 3 round fight,” Gutierrez posted on Facebook. “Thank you to everyone who bought tickets, shirts and supported the event. If you have never been to a Kansas City Fighting Alliance show you’re missing a unique experience. The vibe and energy in the building is insane with the loyal fan base that has developed over the years.
“(Saturday) night was another reminder why I love this sport so much. I’m proud to say that my overall MMA record is 27 wins with 6 losses and I’m even more proud to be a Glory MMA & Fitness fighter.”
The card also featured a first round submission win by Jacob Akin over Joe Estrada, as Akin locked in a guillotine.
Antonio Martinez finished JW Kiser in the opening 24 seconds in another featured attraction.
