Khabib Nurmagomedov took Conor McGregor to school at UFC 229 Saturday night, but what the reigning UFC lightweight champion did after will garner the headlines.
Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor in the fourth round with a neck crank, but pushed the former champion and stood over him for several moments. That wasn’t all, though, as the unbeaten fighter jumped out of the Octagon and attacked a member of McGregor’s fight team.
McGregor was confronted by other teammates of Nurmagomedov’s, and UFC president Dana White confirmed that he could be stripped of the title depending on what the Nevada Athletic Commission decides.
All in all, it was a huge black eye on an event that was picked up by several major news outlets around the world.
McGregor, who did not attend the post-fight press conference, posted a message on Twitter after the bout:
Good knock. Looking forward to the rematch.

Nurmagomedov was on hand for the post-fight press conference, apologizing for his actions, but also stating that he only acted because of how McGregor treated him in the build up to the fight.
